ショパン：ピアノ・ソナタ 第1番 ハ短調 op.4. ショパンの最初のピアノ・ソナタであるこの作品は、ほとんど知られておらず、演奏される機会も少ない。 初期作品にしばしば見られることだが、とめどない楽想の羅列により構成感が希薄なこと、それにショパンらしい親しみやすい旋律線に乏しいことがその主な理由だろう。 確かに、後の第2番・第3番という歴史的傑作と比較すれば未熟さは否定できないが、若者らしい大胆な意気込みや、後年の「鍵盤の詩人」を予感させる閃きも随所に現れている。 曲は1827年から翌年にかけて作曲され、ワルシャワ音楽院での作曲の師ユゼフ・エルスナーに献呈された。 完成後ウィーンのハスリンガー社に送られたが、結局そのまま放置され、作曲者の死後の1851年になってようやく出版された。
